KWD Wellness is a private pay practice and does not accept insurance or provide superbills. If you have questions about this or want help making an informed choice, I’m happy to connect.

Prior to our first scheduled intake session, a card will be placed on file. At the end of each session, your card will be billed.
I accept credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards. Payment is collected securely through a HIPAA-compliant platform at the time of service.

Under the law, as a health care provider, I will give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance for services an estimate of their bill for therapy services.
This estimate is called a “Good Faith Estimate" and explains how much your therapy will cost. Here are a few key things you should know about your Good Faith Estimate:
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
If you schedule a health care service at least 3 business days in advance, you are entitled a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule a health care service at least 10 business days in advance, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after scheduling. You can also ask for a Good Faith Estimate prior to scheduling.
If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
It's recommended that you save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

Many people prefer to meet online for their services from the comfort of their own home. KWD Wellness only provides virtual care. When receiving services, you must be physically present in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia.
-
Do you want support, but find it challenging to make to find time and balance it all? Now you don’t have to commute or even leave home. Online care allows us to work collaboratively in a supportive environment, wherever is most convenient and comfortable for you.
It is also important to know that online therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Those who are in severe crisis, or who are actively contemplating suicide would not be best helped by virtual care and should seek a therapist locally with in person availability. If these concerns every arise during the course of our work, we will have an emergency plan in place to connect you with local resources.
At KWD Wellness, we provide counseling via confidential, real time, 2-way video. We use a HIPAA-compliant secure video conferencing to make online-based therapy convenient and confidential.
All you need is a private space, internet connection and a smart phone, tablet, laptop or personal computer. When you schedule your appointment, a secure video link is created for your appointment and sent to you via email. When it’s time for your scheduled appointment, simply click the link and we will be connected.

The first session is a chance to slow down and begin understanding what brings you in. We’ll talk about what’s been weighing on you, what you’re hoping for, and what support might be most helpful.
I’ll also review confidentiality, answer questions, and outline how the therapy process works. There’s no pressure to share everything at once or to have clear goals right away. This session helps us determine whether working together feels like a good fit and how to move forward in a way that feels supportive.
-
To cancel a scheduled therapy session, a minimum of 48 hours advanced noticed is required. For any cancellation less than 48 hours in advance, you will be charged the full fee for the missed session. Since, I know life happens, if we can reschedule within the week, then there will be no charge.

This is the foundation of how I work, not a separate service.
Being mindfulness-based means paying attention to present-moment experience with curiosity rather than judgment.
Being trauma-informed means prioritizing safety, choice, and pacing.
Being somatically aware means including the body and nervous system as part of understanding stress, grief, and resilience. These principles are woven through therapy, supervision, consultation, and training.
